Transfer News: Manchester United will not sell Cristiano Ronaldo amid Chelsea contact
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have no plans to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer amid contact with Chelsea for a potential transfer. His future has been clouded by uncertainty even after Erik ten Hag’s arrival, which worsened after his agent met with their direct rivals.
Ronaldo is tied down at Old Trafford for one more season, with Man United having the option to extend the contract by another year. Despite that, he has been linked with a move elsewhere, with the Blues being the latest destination. That is because Jorgen Mendes was in discussions with Todd Boehly in their search for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
However, the Red Devils are adamant that they will not part ways with Cristiano and expect him to remain with them for the upcoming campaign. This update was further confirmed by a senior official in Carrington, which should end the doubts over the talisman’s future for the time being.
“Cristiano is not for sale. We want and fully expect him to be with us next season.”
Would Ronaldo stay at Man Utd?
Some supporters are frustrated by this latest news after the Portuguese international confirmed earlier that he wants to stay in Manchester beyond this summer. However, that does not align with what his agent Mendes is currently doing, having also offered his client to Bayern Munich a few days ago.
As Bayern Munchen were not interested, this latest meeting with Thomas Tuchel’s side has added to the fans’ worries. United, as of now, can’t really offer a lot to CR7 in order to make him commit himself to the Red Devils without a second thought.
It remains to be seen what the Portuguese superstar thinks about our summer window so far- with the Red Devils seeing several outgoings but no notable additions. To add to that, ‘Mr Champions League’ would be playing in the UEFA Europa League with us in the upcoming campaign.
Ten Hag has already confirmed that the 37-year-old is in his plans for the next season, so the boss and the club must assure Ronaldo about their project and address any potential issues. At the same time, this development should come as a warning to the Manchester side to speed up their business for this summer.

We require reinforcements in several areas of the pitch at this moment, and losing Ronaldo is the last thing that we would want as of now. Let’s hope to see him stay with us for longer, but whether that will happen or not remains to be seen in due time.
