Transfer News: Manchester United are interested in Middlesbrough youngster Isaiah Jones
According to transfer news from 90min, Manchester United are set to compete with a Premier League duo for the signing of Middlesbrough youngster Isaiah Jones.
Jones, 22, had a breakout season with Middlesbrough the previous season. The right-winger spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Queen of the South in Scotland before returning to Boro and making his Championship debut at the start of last season.
Jones was introduced to the first team by Neil Warnock, but Chris Wilder helped him establish himself as one of the top young players in the Football League.
Even though the Englishman has revealed his interest in continuing with Middlesbrough, it is believed that Tottenham, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been keeping an eye on Jones’ progress with an intention to lure the right-winger.
Jones, who made 42 league appearances last season with one goal and eight assists, enjoys playing an attacking role in the team, which might be intriguing for new Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag who seems to have effectively used similar kinds of talents at Ajax.
Jadon Sancho and Amad Diallo are, of course, waiting to compete for regular starts under ten Hag down the right-hand side, while Alejandro Garnacho, Facundo Pellistri, and Anthony Elanga will also want more playing time out wide.
If Jones joins Manchester United, Jones probably won’t be able to play consistently. He can first prove himself with the development team like Diallo did last year when he joined from Atalanta.

Our midfield’s lack of balance has been noticed for some time, so we should focus on resolving those concerns first. However, we still require reinforcements in other areas, so it remains to be seen if our team will pursue him in the ongoing window.
