Former Manchester United player Daley Blind reveals what to expect from Erik ten Hag
In an interview with United Daily, Ajax star Daley Blind revealed how Erik ten Hag likes to run his team ahead of the Dutch manager’s move to Manchester United.
Manchester United have announced Erik ten Hag as their new manager. Even though welcoming a manager who has defined tactics and playing style is advantageous, considering United’s current condition, it would take a lot of work from the manager and the players to take the team where it truly belongs.
Premier League fans might have seen the Dutch manager from a distance, but have no detailed idea of how the person is and what his future plans are. But now we have gotten a detailed description of the manager from former Manchester United man Daley Blind who has spent numerous seasons under Ten Hag during his Ajax tenure.
The 32-year-old left-back suggested Ten Hag expects his team to play attacking football and he is very selective on what he wants from the squad. The Dutch manager knows how to keep everyone on the same page and work towards a mutual goal.
“A manager who loves to play attacking football, which is what Man United stands for, I think. A manager who knows what he wants. To keep everyone on board and with the same direction to get that winning mentality and winning trophies.”
Blind also added that the 52-years-old likes to command every small detail and likes to be in control of everything about his team.
“He wants to keep everything close, and I think he is also a control freak. He wants to be on top of everything.”
Would Ten Hag be successful at United?
After Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United many world-class managers tried their luck with the Red Devils, but none got
successful in taking the team to the heights of the Ferguson era. Ten Hag’s countryman Louis van Gaal also was one of them who wanted to rebuild the team, but it didn’t work out.Manchester United have changed 7 managers in 8 years and this has become an unwanted achievement for the team. Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick had a definitive playing style and unique approach to the game, but even he couldn’t crack the code.
