Rangers looking to send back Amad Diallo to Manchester United following a sour loan spell
According to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Rangers are currently assessing their options to return Amad Diallo to Manchester United following a disappointing loan spell so far. This news would be the latest setback in the list of blows the youngster has suffered since his big-money move to Old Trafford.
Man United had bought Diallo from Atalanta for a massive price in the region of £37.2million. That alone made life difficult for him as it set unreasonable expectations on him at such a young age. He could not break into the first-team set-up, which prompted the club to loan him out to the Scottish side for the rest of this season.
However, this latest update would be a damning blow for the Red Devils and the 19-year-old if it is true. Supposedly, the Glasgow-based club is planning to “let go” of the attacker as soon as possible. That could mean that they are looking into cutting the loan spell short since he has struggled to get going so far.
Diallo’s loan to be cut short?
The Ivory Coast international had started his life at Ibrox Stadium with a bang, having scored in his first game for them since the January loan move. The forward has not been able to get in on the goal involvements since then, as he has failed to impress when given minutes.
That has seen the African being left on the bench in the Scottish Premiership in the last five matches. His minutes have been reduced to just playing in the Scottish Cup, which is not what anyone would have expected in the early stages of the loan transfer.
We must contact Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side and clarify their stance on the matter as fast as possible. After all, it would not help the Man United loanee, in any case, to stay with them if this piece of information is proven to be true.

Let’s hope that is not the case when there is still a good chunk of the season left to be played. Van Bronckhorst had expressed in the past that the Red Devils winger will get game time once he gets used to the intensity of the Scottish Premiership.
We have not seen that happen yet which could mean that the Ivorian is still adapting to his new life at Ibrox. In any case, it would be best if the matter is addressed directly with Rangers as we can take appropriate actions if this news is believed to be true. Let’s wait and see whether we receive further updates on the matter in the coming weeks.
