Transfer News: Manchester United battle PSG, Juventus for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to the Spanish publication, Fichajes, Manchester United are engaged in a battle with PSG and Juventus for the services of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. He has been a key player for his side once again this season but could be in line to leave in the summer transfer window.
Club president Claudio Lotito has already rejected transfer bids of up to €80million to get Milinkovic-Savic’s services. He will not entertain offers around that region at the end of the season either and has plans to drive up the asking price to €100million following the interest from four European heavyweights.
AC Milan are also in the mix, just like the other three European clubs for a potential move next summer. All four are tipped to be the favourites to land the Serbian’s signature at the end of this season. Milan curiously are ready to include Sandro Tonali in a cash plus exchange deal to sweeten things up for Le Aquile.
Tough battle underway
The Serb has attracted attention from several European heavyweights for quite a long time. The involvement of the current interested parties is not surprising, to say the least, considering how he has performed over the past few years. Man United will certainly not have a clear road should they make a move to land him in the summer.
The Serie A ace has scored and assisted eight times each this season from 23 appearances in the Italian first division. He has contributed extensively to his side’s attempt to qualify for the European competitions next term. While his services will not come cheap, it makes sense given his contributions on the field.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juve would need to be kept an eye on since they are capable of giving us a run for our money. The Rossoneri, meanwhile, are in a rebuilding phase and cannot be overlooked in the slightest. They could be trying to even the playing field by including Tonali, one of their most talented players.

Man United are desperate for midfield signings having failed to maintain control in the middle of the park during games. The Serbian could be a prime candidate to solve our issues next summer. With Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard looking set to leave for free at the end of the season, the Red Devils cannot afford to not invest in the window.
Moreover, we still do not know what lies in store for Donny van de Beek when his loan with Everton ends. Nemanja Matic’s influence is waning while Fred and Scott McTominay are limited in the technical aspects, making the Lazio star’s signing a necessity next summer. Whether a transfer will happen or not will only be known in due time.
