Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes claims he would like to enter football management one day

Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, as quoted by the Manchester Evening NewsBruno Fernandes told some young Manchester United fans that he has already started his coaching course in football management.

The playmaker joined the Red Devils nearly two years ago and has been sensational since then. He completed 100 appearances for the club this month and could play a key role in churning out success in the coming years. But the Portuguese international has already made plans for his career after he hangs his boots.

The former Sporting ace is not planning on leaving the game as he has started taking a coaching course in football management. The 27-year-old featured in a YouTube video recently, where he was playing Secret Santa with a couple of young Man United fans. The kids handed him a diary and asked him who would need it the most.

Fernandes initially responded by stating that Ralf Rangnick might need it as the German often keeps writing things down. However, later, the attacking midfielder revealed that he would like to take the diary as he is currently taking a coaching course.

“Yes, because I want to be a manager, I am doing the course.”

This is not the first time he has done so, as he also recently revealed to the club’s website of his ambitions of becoming a manager.

“I am trying to enjoy the football, you know. I think I want to be a coach. Honestly, I would like to be a coach. I do not know which team I would like to manage. Of course, the biggest team if I can manage Manchester United, I will be happy.”

Future Man United manager?

The Portuguese ace already has a good relationship with most players and acts as a leader in the dressing room. He guides them from the front and takes on the responsibility to turn games on its head. Thus, it is no surprise that Fernandes would like to have a team at his command one day.

Moreover, he would not be the first former Portuguese player to do so. Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Andres Villas-Boas, Bruno Lage are some of the many Portuguese players that have gone on to become managers. However, it is safe to say that Fernandes has perhaps made a bigger name as a player than the aforementioned players.

Additionally, former Man United players have also entered into management in the past decade, with Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prime examples of it.

It also bodes well for us that Fernandes would like to manage the Red Devils in the future. However, it would be wise for him to coach at a couple of mid-sized clubs before he puts his name in the hat for the Man United job. Regardless, these plans shall only come into play once he retires as he has a lot to achieve with us before doing so.

However, those days are pretty far away for us to think about it right now. At 27, Fernandes is perhaps at the peak of his playing career and has a long way to go before he hangs his boots. Hopefully, he gives us several more years of top-quality service and lifts a couple of trophies with us before he starts donning the managerial gear on the touchline.
