Flamengo reluctant to pay €20m to Manchester United for Andreas Pereira
According to Youtuber Paparazzo Rubro Negro (h/t Sportwitness), Flamengo are not ready to pay €20m to secure the permanent signing of Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira.
The Brazilian failed to convince the coaching hierarchy at Manchester United and has been shipped out on various loan deals in recent years. The latest tint saw him join Flamengo in August 2021. The Red Devils placed their bets on the 25-year-old’s performances and added an option to make the deal permanent for €20m.
Pereira was quickly raising the bar of his performance in Brazil. He bagged five goals and one assist in 18 games for the Mengão. However, he made a horrible mistake in the Copa Libertadores’ final that cost Flamengo the title.
The Copa Libertadores is one of the most reputed tournaments globally. Brazilian fans get fired up to see their team succeed in the tournament and making such a big mistake is likely to have cost Pereira a considerable amount of home support.
Amid such a situation, Flamengo is unwilling to pay such a hefty price to sign the 24-year-old player. It is believed that the Brazilian team is currently holding talks to lower United’s asking price. Mengão could go up to €6m to secure the services of the midfielder. However, anything more than appears improbable at this moment.
Paying €20m for Pereira would make him the Brazilian club’s record signing, and the Mengão don’t want to spend such an amount on a player that has shown only a handful of good performances.
If both teams cannot find a middle ground, Pereira would end up making his way to Old Trafford.

The situation has entirely changed since he left on loan. In mid-season, Ole Gunnar Solskjær was relieved of his duties, and German manager Ralf Rangnick took charge of the team. Thus, Pereira should try his luck this time to win the trust of the former RB Leipzig manager.
