Transfer News: Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick set to seal deal for RB Leipzig ace Amadou Haidara in January
According to transfer news on The Sun, Ralf Rangnick will bring RB Leipzig ace Amadou Haidara to Manchester United if the Red Devils pay his release clause in January.
The Red Devils are finally under new management. A proper football man is running the team, and there are exciting times ahead for us. Rangnick will also take charge of us from the dugout for the first time when we take on Crystal Palace later today.
He is set to sign Amadou Haidara from RB Leipzig in January. There were thought to be problems due to his AFCON duties, but they are not to be a major issue. The German boss shares a good relationship with the midfielder as he convinced him to sign for the Bundesliga club two years ago.
Rangnick has apparently already talked to the player’s agent, Volker Struth. A deal shall be agreed upon once Man United pay his £32million release clause that was going to be activated next summer, but Leipzig have given a ‘broad hint’, that they might let him go in the winter transfer window.
Start of the Rangnick era?
Most coaches in world football stamp their authority on their new clubs by signing players from their former clubs. Maurizio Sarri did it at Chelsea when he brought Jorginho with him from Napoli. Pep Guardiola also signed Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona during his time at Bayern Munich.
Haidara could be a similar fit to Rangnick. The Mali international could become a much-needed cog in the midfield. Paul Pogba is out injured and will only return next year. Not to mention the former Juventus man has rarely looked like the midfielder we thought we were going to get from the Serie A side and is also out of contract next year.
It can also be argued that we can do better than Fred and Scott McTominay in our midfield, especially after some of their performances this season.
Nemanja Matic does not possess the legs to play week in and week out and shall be out of contract in 2023. Moreover, the Leipzig star will turn 24 next month and has good experience in the Champions League. He has also been vocal about the fact that he grew up as a Red Devils fan, which is always good to hear.

It is a tough job to find such talented midfielders but we have a man in Rangnick now who can pull off such things regularly. Haidara could be a big success under his former coach, but the Old Trafford outfit will need to pay the release clause first before making an official announcement.
