Manchester United could reignite interest in RB Leipzig and Mali midfielder Amadou Haidara
Manchester United could ‘revisit their interest’ in RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News). The 24-year-old was linked with the Red Devils last season.
Former interim head coach of the Old Trafford side, Ralf Rangnick, had signed the Mali international for the Bundesliga outfit during his time in the dugout of the Red Bull Arena side.
And the German wanted United to follow suit and bring him to Manchester from Saxony during his short spell in Manchester. However, the Red Devils could once again look at the Les Aigles star in the coming transfer windows.
Leipzig signed Haidara from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019. Since then, the midfielder has slowly grown in his stature at the club and has become an important part of Die Roten Bullen’s first team.
The Malian has featured in 18 games for the Saxony-based club in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. While he is a box-to-box midfielder by trait, the 24-year-old is also capable of playing in the number six position.
At United, the recent transfer window saw the arrival of Christian Eriksen as a free agent. The 30-year-old needed a couple of games to find his best position. However, the Denmark international has now made the number eight position his own.
Some fans have been left surprised with the impact the former Tottenham Hotspur star has had in Manchester. He has become a pivotal player for Erik ten Hag this term.
The Red Devils also bought Casemiro from Real Madrid to bolster the middle of the park in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian has shown his quality as the defensive midfielder in the side.
