Newcastle United are confident of landing Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional (h/t ESPN), Newcastle United are ‘ready to move’ for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, who has been suffering from a lack of game at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman is nothing short of a bench warmer at Man United after moving from Ajax in 2020. Despite some positive performances, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer never gave him the chance to feature regularly. Now, it is believed that the 24-year-old is eyeing an exit.
Despite strong interest from Real Madrid, they are now uninterested in investing a hefty sum on a player who hasn’t featured in a lot of competitive matches for Man United. This action from Los Blancos has given a massive advantage to Newcastle United in their pursuit of the player.
The Magpies are now confident about getting their man. It is believed that Eddie Howe’s team have already made a massive offer to the Red Devils board and the player about a possible transfer.
Van de Beek was a member of the Ajax class of 2019/20 that shocked the world with their incredible run in the Champions League. Manchester United board making a move to capture the signature of the red hot midfielder was seen as a huge success at that time. But it seems there was no discussion between the coaches and the club hierarchy responsible for transfers.
In the last two years, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer involved him in only 44 matches; with most of them coming off the bench. In such a scenario, the player seems shot of confidence and has also been in and out of the Dutch national team.

It would be interesting to see if the 24-year-old player has any role under the new interim manager Ralf Rangnick. Nonetheless, the Red Devils board should clarify their plans to the player, and if they couldn’t find a position for him, then it’d be better for both parties to part ways. After all, not every transfer works out.
