Manchester United coaching staff displeased with the playing style of Bruno Fernandes

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t The Express], Manchester United coaching staff have been irked by the playing style of Bruno Fernandes this season.

There have been several problems behind the scenes at Old Trafford this season. The campaign has not gone to plan, and the club is currently languishing outside the Top 6. Their defeat against Watford was a clear representation of the lack of cohesion in the team.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday, and Michael Carrick was appointed as the interim boss. However, the players feel that their performances shall not improve under the Englishman as he was also a part of the Norwegian’s coaching setup.

Several players apparently also feel that Harry Maguire is struggling in the role of a captain. It is rather odd that the Englishman is the main man at the club despite the presence of far more influential players like Bruno Fernandes, David de Gea, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s lack of pressing has also caused some problems at times but the coaching staff have no issues with it. They believe that the centre-forward utilises the majority of his energy in the final third and comes up with the goals.

Other players in the team have been told to work harder off the ball to make up for the striker’s lack of pressing. However, the staff do have a problem with the 27-year-old Bruno Fernandes. They feel that the playmaker exhausts a lot of his energy by pressing aimlessly.

He has been shown videos and told what he is doing wrong, but a resolution is yet to be found. However, these problems could be solved once an experienced manager is appointed.

Till then, the players shall need to come through for Carrick in the coming weeks.
