Juventus expect PSG and Real Madrid to beat them to the signing of Manchester United star Paul Pogba

Speaking in an interview, as cited by Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News), a senior Juventus official claimed that PSG and Real Madrid are expected to beat them to the signing of Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The French international has produced moments of brilliance this season but also ones of rash indiscipline. He managed to rack up 7 assists in the first four league games of the season but has not built on a good start.

Instead, he put his side into more trouble when they needed his help. The midfielder was brought on against Liverpool to change the game but was sent off after a rough challenge. He also picked up a thigh injury recently, ruling him out of action till the end of the year. Regardless, he may be playing his last season at Old Trafford as he is in the final year of his contract.

The 28-year-old could leave as a free agent next summer, and a return to Juventus was thought to be on the cards. He spent four glorious years in Turin before re-signing for United in 2016. However, the Italian outfit has all but ruled out a move for the midfielder.

A senior Juventus official told reporters in an interview, as cited by Caught Offside (h/t Manchester Evening News):

“We don’t think it is going to be possible now. Keep an eye on PSG and Real Madrid.”

It is thought that Juventus are ruling themselves out of the race due to their inability to offload Aaron Ramsey. Nevertheless, the French giants and the Spanish behemoths could sign Pogba as both have the financial clout to do so.

However, he would be a big loss to United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has assembled a terrific squad and it needs to be built upon rather than being depleted. Regardless, the Manchester-based outfit shall need to get the player to sign a contract extension soon if they hope to keep him beyond this season.
