Manchester United confident of landing Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers amidst calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
According to the Daily Star (h/t The Metro), Manchester United are confident of luring Brendan Rodgers out of Leicester City amidst calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils have not had the best start to a season. They had a terrific transfer window, but Solskjaer has not got these players playing an attractive brand of football. The performances have been dire, as have the subsequent results.
Defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City have only intensified the commotion surrounding the future of the Norwegian. While a concrete decision is yet to be made, alternatives have been thought of.
The club decided against appointing Antonio Conte, who went on to join Tottenham Hotspur. However, one man that could replace Solskjaer is Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman missed out on the league title with Liverpool but found success at Celtic.
His performances in Scotland earned him a job at Leicester, and he has so far done a brilliant job. Two successive fifth-place finishes and an FA Cup trophy have garnered a lot of plaudits for the 48-year-old.
Moreover, he also reassured his commitment to the Midlands club amidst recent links to replacing Solskjaer at United. However, the Manchester-based outfit are confident of landing him due to a contract loophole.

Rodgers has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave if a Champions League club comes calling for him. The Red Devils have no hesitation in paying this release clause.
Thus, Solskjaer is on thin ice at the theatre of dreams. The Old Trafford are set to play crunch ties after the international break, and if the results do not change, there could be a new man at the helm by the end of 2021.
