Leicester City boss provides Youri Tielemans update to Manchester United
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has provided a big update on the future of Manchester United target, Youri Tielemans. The manager’s words indicate that his star midfielder’s future is still uncertain.
The 25-year-old’s contract is set to expire next year and it is normal for a player to be surrounded by potential suitors. The midfielder is not new to the current bunch of Premier League teams as he has been lighting up the English league since his arrival from AS Monaco in 2019.
Tieleman’s scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Chelsea last year and has made over 150 appearances for Brendan Rodger’s side. However, Leicester would find it difficult to keep hold of the player as Arsenal, and Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s contract situation.
Such has been his demand that even German champions Bayern Munich are interested in moving for the Belgian. The Foxes would not accept the fact that one of their most dedicated players would be allowed to leave for free.
However, this would be the case if the 25-year-old decides against signing a new contract. According to Metro, Brendan Rodgers was asked about the contract situation of Youri Tielemans, for which he replied by saying:
‘There’s no update at all. He’s happy in his work and he’s happy at the club. But naturally, with a year in his contract, he may feel he has to look at everything for himself and his family. I’ll have a good chat with Youri next week to get privately what he’s thinking.’
Those words signify that the club would still need to talk to their star asset regarding his future commitments. Rodger would be willing to have a positive talk with the player to convince him to stay at the King Power stadium. After all, he has been a key player for the Irish manager.
With Frenkie de Jong’s transfer stuttering a bit, the club would have the chance to keep the Belgian midfielder as an option.
With valuable Premier League experience under his belt, the 25-year-old could be an important asset for the Dutch manager as he looks to reshape the team.

Tielemans, who spent some time with Anderlecht in Belgium and AS Monaco in France, has the experience of playing in top leagues, under different managers, and in different systems.
With Paul Pogba no longer here, we could use an addition in that area. There is a dearth of quality central midfielders at Old Trafford and even if we manage to sign De Jong, Tielemans would still be a smart option to consider for us.
