Manchester United board set to hold ‘regular talks’ over the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amidst sack calls
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t The Express], the Manchester United board is set to hold regular talks over the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amidst calls to sack him.
There has been a lot of commotion in recent weeks regarding whether he is the right man for the job. Since defeating Newcastle United in early September, United have won three games out of 12 across all competitions.
This dire run has seen them knocked out of the EFL Cup and the Top 4 in the Premier League. Their Champions League hopes are still alive and they will face a crunch tie against Villarreal post the international break.
However, the biggest upsets over the last month a half have been the poor performances against Liverpool and Man City. Solskjaer often performed well in big games, but there are only so many times one can use the same tactics.
Pep Guardiola caught up to speed on Saturday, and his men completely outplayed United. Thus, the alarm bells would have been ringing in the boardroom, and it is believed that regular talks are going to be held during the international break to evaluate the future of the gaffer.
There were similar talks and concerns after the Liverpool bashing but Sir Alex Ferguson had intervened and suggested that the Norwegian should be given more time, according to Fabrizio Romano (h/t The Express).

It is believed that the Scotsman still holds the same stance, and Solskjaer is likely to be in charge even after the international break. However, the results need to improve, and the performances need to be far more encouraging.
Watford, Villarreal, and Chelsea are not going to rest on their laurels after the break, and they will not hesitate to put the final nails in Solskjaer’s coffin. Thus, it is make-or-break time for the 48-year-old now.
