Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that Manchester United need to make amends in their next Premier League fixture against Watford after disappointing derby loss
In his post-match thoughts (h/t Manchester Evening News) Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels that his team should come out like a hurt animal and put on an aggressive display against Watford in their next Premier League fixture.
The Norwegian manager has been under mounting pressure after some terrible displays by his squad. There was a lack of unity and game plan against Manchester City. The Red Devils could have lost by a worse margin if not for David De Gea and his spirited performance at the back.
The lack of intensity and pressing meant that the Citizens could easily pass the ball through the Man Utd midfield. Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood were isolated figures at the top of the pitch. They rarely saw the ball as Ederson was hardly troubled on the day.
An own goal from Eric Bailly and a ridiculous goal from Bernado Silva at the end of the first half put the visitors in a comfortable place. The Blue side of Manchester then controlled proceedings as the three-man defence didn’t provide any dividends on the day.
Solskjaer has kept the faith in his team and believes that the squad should attack the situation in the next match against Watford:
“Players are human beings and when you lose a game of football there’s no better remedy than winning a game, getting your confidence back. Hopefully, the ones who go away do well. For us, it’s all about Watford. We have to come out against Watford like a proper hurt animal and get back to what we know we can be. That’s the only way to approach this and attack the situation.”
The Red Devils have already conceded humiliating losses to Liverpool and Leicester City at Old Trafford this season. They are currently 9 points from the Premier League leaders Chelsea and are situated in 5th position on the PL table. The 48-year-old manager is yet to win a major trophy as a coach with Manchester United.

Their defence has been in shambles this season and their tactics are all over the place. The lack of intensity and creativity has been evident in some cases as the Red Devils have relied heavily on Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park to create something. The Old Trafford faithful will be hoping that the players can get their stuff together and start clocking the desired results again.
