Manchester United ready to sign Leicester City star Wilfried Ndidi if they fail to secure a transfer for AS Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are ready to chase Leicester City ace Wilfried Ndidi if they fail in their pursuit to sign AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Red Devils ploughed in heavy cash this summer as they recruited Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.
Thus, they certainly strengthened their defence and added firepower to their frontline. However, an area they failed to address was the midfield line.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has chalked and changed amongst Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, and Scott McTominay this season, with Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic receiving little to no game-time.
However, he may not have the same options next season. Van de Beek is thought to be forcing a move in January, while Pogba could leave the theatre of dreams at the end of the season after his contract expires. Matic shall turn 34 next year, and with his contract up in 2023, the Red Devils could churn out some sort of transfer fee next summer if need be.
Hence, reinforcements could be due in the centre of the pitch. While they are lining up a deal for Monaco star Tchouameni, they have made plans for an alternative.

If the Frenchman does not join the Old Trafford outfit, they will chase the signature of Leicester star Ndidi. The Nigerian has spent a couple of years in the Premier League and has bossed the midfield line at the King Power. Moreover, he also changed agents recently, and it looks like he could be departing the Midlands club.
Thus, United would be ready to provide the 24-year-old with an exit plan but will have to fight off competition from rivals Arsenal. Regardless, a transfer could be on the cards but it is likely to be an expensive one since the box-to-box midfielder’s contract expires in 2024.
