Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals that Victor Lindelof is a doubt due to injury but could return for Man City game
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United star Victor Lindelof is a doubt due to injury but could return for the game against Man City on Saturday.
The Swede has been a rock at the back when asked to perform this season. The centre-back started the season alongside Harry Maguire but was replaced in the third game by summer signing Raphael Varane.
However, he came right back into the squad after Maguire picked up an injury against Aston Villa in September. Since then, he has been a crucial part of the squad as he produced a great performance in a back three against Tottenham Hotspur.
Unfortunately, the defender failed to make the trip to Italy to face Atalanta in mid-week as the Red Devils needed an added-time equalizer from Cristiano Ronaldo to secure a point.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now revealed that Lindelof is a doubt for the derby against Man City but would not be surprised if he makes a quick recovery and features in the starting lineup. The Norwegian told reporters in the pre-match press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“Lindelof? He’s still a doubt, but hopefully, he can come back in tomorrow and say that he’s ready. I would expect him to be ready, to put it that way, but I can’t promise you.”

The problem for United is that Raphael Varane also picked up an injury against Atalanta and is set to be out for a month. Hence, if Solskjaer does wish to set up with three centre-backs, Lindelof will be crucial.
Hopefully, the Swedish international will come through for us and provide a sturdy performance at the back as the Old Trafford outfit look to enter the Top 4 again.
