“Not good enough”- Man United legend slams first XI ace after recent downturn in form

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Aaron wan-Bissaka is not good enough

Speaking to Sky Sports before the game against Tottenham Hotspur (h/t The Sun), Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has slammed Aaron wan-Bissaka for his recent performances.

The Englishman arrived from Crystal Palace for £50million in 2019 and was slotted immediately into the United backline by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The youngster has been incredible in his defensive display but often lacks intensity and creativity while attacking.

Although the right-back is only 23, other full-backs in the league provide far more to their team in terms of attacking output. Moreover, the fact that the Old Trafford outfit have conceded 15 goals in the league this season has not helped his argument for being a sound defender either.

Keane believes the defender is not good enough to play for Palace let alone United. Keane told Sky Sports before the game against Tottenham Hotspur (h/t The Sun):

“Wan-Bissaka, I don’t even think Palace would take him back! He’s not good enough for Manchester United. No feel for the ball, decision making.”

He goes on to add that United have over the years fielded players with character and personality. Wan Bissaka does not particularly stand out amongst the particular group of players.

“BUT WHAT MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE ALWAYS HAD OVER THE YEARS IS PLAYERS WITH CHARACTER, WITH PERSONALITIES – I DON’T SEE IT WITH THIS GROUP.”

However, the former United midfielder would have to eat his words after the game as the young English international produced a coming-of-age performance against Spurs. In a new 3-5-2 formation, the youngster’s industry and enthusiasm seemed a good fit in the wing-back role.

In fact, the 23-year-old also featured a lot more in the attacking half and combined well with the front two of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani. However, it will now be down to Wan-Bissaka to keep up the good performances and prove his £50million price tag.
