The Glazers would prefer Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United and avoid a January transfer

According to ESPN (h/t The Express), The Glazers want Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United this season and avoid a transfer in January amidst interest from many clubs.

The midfield superstar has dazzled the theatre of dreams for nearly half a decade now and has continued with his fine displays this season. 7 assists in just as many league starts is an incredible feat, although the Frenchman’s last outing was one to forget.

A red card against Liverpool, especially when United were already 5-0 down, did not paint a pretty picture. However, regardless of any of this, the midfielder might now be playing his last season in the famous red jersey.

The club are aware that Pogba can leave as a free agent next summer unless he signs a new deal before then and now. Moreover, he could seal a pre-contract agreement in January itself that will see him join a foreign club at the start of next season.

While that is the 28-year-old’s lookout, United have now revealed their stance on the topic. The Glazers have accepted that the French international can leave at the end of the season but do not wish to lose him in January for a cut-price fee.

The club would understand that it might not be possible to recoup the £89million they spent on him in 2016 and would rather keep him in the squad over the course of the season than get a measly fee in the winter transfer window.

Pogba could be key to the Red Devils winning a major trophy this season, and that prospect is far more attractive to the club than one of letting him leave for a cheap fee mid-season.

However, while Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus are linked with the player, United will only let the player leave next summer regardless of his eligibility to talk to foreign clubs at the turn of the year.
