Harry Maguire apologises to Manchester United fans after losing 5-0 to Liverpool
Speaking to BBC (h/t Manchester Evening News), Harry Maguire has apologised to the Manchester United fans after suffering a dreadful 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The fans were ready as was the theatre of dreams for an incredible showdown between two of the biggest rivals in English football. However, it felt like only one team was told about the match, and the other did not just come unprepared but also did not know the veracity of the situation or the form their opposition came into the game with.
Mo Salah had his party hat on as he ripped apart David de Gea’s bulging net. Harry Maguire, who has recently returned from injury, redeemed his poor performance against Leicester last weekend by contributing in the come-back against Atalanta in mid-week.
However, there was a gulf-in class against the Reds as the Englishman could not cope with Jurgen Klopp’s men and neither could the rest of the team. Thus, the 28-year-old was quick to apologise to the fans after the game. He told BBC (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“Apologies to the fans, that is not good enough for this club. You stuck with us, singing at the end, and we appreciate that. I will be looking at my individual performance, then the team. To concede five in a game at Old Trafford is nowhere near good enough.
“I am the captain, and we have to stick together, we have to look at each other, then look at yourself in the mirror.”

Although several fans exited the stadium after Paul Pogba was sent off in the second half, a large part of the crowd also stayed back and were cheering on the team till the end of the game.
However, something needs to change soon, and Maguire needs to motivate the dressing room to pick their sucks up, brush off this loss, and produce a string of results that will bring the fans back on their side after this poor outing.
