Transfer News: RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo is on the radar of Manchester United despite Barcelona interest
According to the latest transfer news by BILD’s Christian Falk (h/t The Sun), Manchester United are ready to pounce on the opportunity to sign RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo if Barcelona fail to orchestrate a move.
The 23-year-old has been excellent for the German club since signing from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020.
In the last year and a half, Olmo has made 64 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit and has knocked in 12 goals and provided a further 14 assists in the process.
Barcelona have been on the lookout for the attacking midfielder and could bring the La Masia graduate back to the Nou Camp. However, there may be some obstacles to the move.
Financial problems still persist at the Blaugrana club, while there is also competition for his signature. If the La Liga club do suffer trouble in landing a deal for the Spanish international, Manchester United are thought to be ready to pounce on the chance to sign him.
Manchester United to swoop for Dani Olmo?
It is believed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent scouts to Germany to observe the youngster, and a deal could be on the cards. In fact, both clubs in Manchester are interested in procuring a transfer as Man City are also eyeing the talented attacker, according to BILD’s head of football, Christian Falk (h/t The Sun).

Edinson Cavani could move out of Old Trafford at the end of his contract next summer, and the same could be said for Jesse Lingard. Thus, bringing in a young talented forward could only boost the club’s options in that role.
However, if Barcelona do manage to secure the funds and move ahead with the deal, it remains to be seen if United could then still change Olmo’s decision and lure him to England.
