Transfer News: Manchester United are scouting RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku amidst Real Madrid links
According to the latest transfer news on Fussball Transfers (h/t Tribal Football), Manchester United are scouting RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku amidst links to Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old signed for the German club in the summer of 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain for a mere £13million fee. The forward has proved to be a huge bargain for Leipzig so far.
In the past two years, Nkunku has gone on to make 94 appearances for the Bundesliga club and will be hoping to hit the 100 mark this season. In the same period, the Frenchman has also knocked in 21 goals and provided a further 30 assists.
In fact, the youngster showed his quality again last week as he scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League. And the 23-year-old might now be on the move as his agent Pini Zahavi has contacted Real Madrid over the opportunity to sign him next summer.
However, the Spanish giants are not the only ones in the race to sign him. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are also scouting Nkunku over a possible move.
The forward is said to be valued at €40million, and he could add a lot of impetus to the Old Trafford outfit. Jesse Lingard has rejected a contract extension at the club earlier this summer, while Edinson Cavani’s contract will also expire at the end of the season.

Moreover, Anthony Martial could be allowed to leave the club in January itself and, thus, the Red Devils may be due an attacking addition. Additionally, given that Cristiano Ronaldo will turn 37 next year, signing a youthful attacker would be a clever coup.
However, given that Nkunku’s agent has already contacted the 13-time European Champions over a potential move, United will have to move fast if they hope to get a deal over the line.
