Fabrizio Romano claims Paul Pogba will not adhere to the contract deadline set by Manchester United
Speaking on the ‘United Stand’ YouTube channel (h/t Express), Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Paul Pogba will not sign a new contract as per the deadlines set by Manchester United.
The 28-year-old has less than 12 months on his current deal and could be heading for the exit door at the end of this season unless he puts pen to paper on a new contract. The French international was said to be offered a mega-deal in August, according to The Athletic (h/t Express).
The midfielder’s new deal could see him pocket nearly £400,000-per-week, which would be a huge improvisation on his current contract which is said to be worth £290,000-per-week. In fact, it is also thought that the Old Trafford outfit are keen on the player making a decision in the ‘very near future’.
However, it has now been revealed that Pogba does not work that way and might not adhere to these deadlines. Journalist Fabrizio Romano told United Stand’s YouTube channel (h/t Express):
“If they (United) say Pogba has to sign in the next 3 to 4 weeks, it is not in Pogba’s style to decide like this…or in Raiola’s. So, they will need some time before Pogba will decide, I’m sure.”
If a deal cannot be agreed between the club and the 28-year-old by January, the Frenchman will be free to talk to foreign clubs and even agree a deal in ‘principle’.
