Manchester United will battle Juventus to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United have been joined by Juventus in the race to sign Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele.
The 24-year-old joined the Blaugrana club back in 2017 for a reported fee of £135million from Borussia Dortmund. However, this massive investment is yet to pay off. Since making the move, the Nou Camp outfit have never made the final of a Champions League while the league titles are also drying up.
Given his talent when he was brought into the club, Barcelona would have expected the youngster to be the main man for them in the future, but the truth could not be further. In fact, the player might now be done with his time in Spain.
Dembele is in the final year of his contract and United are keeping an eye over the progress of a new Barcelona contract.
If the French international does fail to sign one, the Red Devils can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the player in January itself, which would entail that the winger will join the Old Trafford outfit on a free transfer next summer.
Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani could be out of contract next season, which could create sufficient space in the squad as well as the wage bill to slot in the 24-year-old. However, the Manchester-based club are not the only side in contention for the Frenchman’s signature.

Serie A giants Juventus are also planning to put their hat in the mix for the former Dortmund man. The Old Lady had lost Cristiano Ronaldo to United this summer and might be interested in adding reinforcements in the frontline.
With Barcelona yet to get their star man to sign a new contract, the Red Devils would be hoping to convince the winger to sign for them and snub the Italian competition.
