Nemanja Matic believes Manchester United admits the Premier League is hard and concentration is a must
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has stressed the need to focus and not lose concentration during Premier League games.
The Red Devils have had a rocky two weeks after a glorious summer transfer window. Young Boys handed United a defeat in their first UEFA Champions League group stage game this season, after which, David de Gea’s last-minute penalty save ensured three points against West Ham in the Premier League.
However, since then, they have been knocked out by the Hammers in the EFL Cup while they also lost their first league game of the season against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Nemanja Matic, who has been a key member of Solskjaer’s squad in recent seasons, has now explained the need for concentration in a competition like the Premier League. He told BT Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“In the Premier League, every game is hard. In some games, you score many goals and the result says that was easy but on the pitch, it’s not like that. You have to be concentrating.
“For me, the Premier League is not the same as it was ten years ago. Every team has top-class players, top coaches, so it’s very hard to play. Almost all the best players in the world are playing here, so it’s very tough.”

The 33-year-old midfielder is one of the very few players in United’s ranks currently who has the experience of winning the Premier League, as he did so twice with Chelsea before making the move to Old Trafford in 2017.
With a tough fixture list after the international break in October, the Red Devils will need to keep focus and win as many games as possible, if they hope to lift silverware this season.
