Gary Neville warns Solskjaer that Manchester United are lacking balance in their pursuit of the Premier League title

According to the Mirror, Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of a key weakness in his squad as the Red Devils push for the Premier League title.

United have won four of their first five games this season and are joint top on points. There is optimism that Solskjaer could lead the side to their first Premier League title in nine years.

The additions of Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane have handed the Red Devils excellent strength in depth and quality to go with it. Despite the names at our disposal, Neville believes the team lacks balance.

Neville admits that the names on United’s roster bring in a lot of excitement among fans. That is to be expected given the attacking riches at Solskjaer’s fingertips. There is, however, no guarantee that all the players can gel together and work their magic collectively.

“Its obviously more exciting to see Pogba, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, Cavani, Martial, Rashford all play, but can you really create a brilliant team when you’ve got all those attacking players, who haven’t got the other side of the game and the balance.”

Neville goes on to mention Chelsea as a benchmark when it comes to team balance. Thomas Tuchel’s side is undoubtedly a well-drilled unit and have shown both desire and ability to reach a common goal.

“Chelsea have a great balance, Man Utd at this moment in time don’t quite have that same balance.”

Neville’s comments make sense. Despite our players, United do not yet have an identity on the field. Unless all the cogs of the machine work in tandem, it is inevitable that there will be breakdowns.

Hopefully, the chemistry will improve as we go along and the players will step up and make themselves count when it matters.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and even Manchester City have all shown good potential and also chemistry. United, on paper, have a squad capable of competing with any side in world football. It will matter for little unless we can repeat the performances on the field.
