Transfer News: Manchester United ahead of Barcelona & Juventus in race to sign Dani Olmo

According to Todo Fichajes, Manchester United are leading Barcelona and Juventus in the race to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.

Olmo signed for RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb at the start of last year, and the Spaniard has been impressive for the club since then. In over 60 appearances for the German outfit, Olmo has managed to score 12 goals and provide 13 assists in the process.

Last season, the attacker played a crucial role in helping Leipzig finish 2nd in the Bundesliga, while he was also pivotal in the club reaching the Round of 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Although the Red Devils currently possess the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, and Marcus Rashford in their ranks, another attacker may be considered by the Old Trafford outfit.

Ronaldo is set to turn 37 next year, while Cavani has entered into the final year of his current deal at the club and could leave on a free transfer next summer. Lingard has also rejected a new contract at the club and might not be a Red Devil by the start of next season.

Thus, given his age and talent, the 21-year-old Olmo could certainly provide a youthful approach to the club for many years to come. The Spaniard will only have two years left on his contract next summer, and United could make a move for the attacker.

While the Old Trafford club are leading the race to sign him, they will face stiff competition from Barcelona and Juventus if they are to get a deal over the line for the 21-year-old. However, it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard would be open to a move to the English club next summer.
