Manchester United have been tipped to add Erling Haaland to their ranks this season
Speaking to Caught Offside (h/t TEAMtalk), ex-Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has tipped the Red Devils to complete a move for Erling Haaland next season.
The Old Trafford outfit added handsomely to their frontline this season by bringing in the likes of Jadon Sancho and club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. While the former has not settled in completely as of yet, the Portuguese has already started his goal-scoring feats by knocking in 3 goals in 2 games.
However, there could an aging issue in United’s frontline, especially since Ronaldo will turn 37 next year while Edinson Cavani will turn 35 and will be out of contract next summer. This has led to former United midfielder Luke Chadwick explaining that the Manchester-based club could add Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland to the ranks next season.
Chadwick told Caught Offside (h/t TEAMtalk):
“I think for this season you wouldn’t swap Ronaldo for anyone. But I understand that Haaland would probably be signed on a five/six-year contract and would hopefully do it over that period of time.
“The way that Haaland speaks about Cristiano as well… It might all be part of a master plan for him to come in next summer.”
The Norwegian, who has scored 65 goals in 65 games for the Bundesliga club in the last one and a half years, attracted interest from clubs around Europe this summer. However, his £150million price tag was enough to ward off most suitors.

While that was the case this summer, the 21-year-old is said to have a clause in his contract that will make him available for around £70million next summer, opening up the door for interested suitors to snap him up.
Thus, with the Old Trafford club aiming to win silverware in the coming seasons, a move for Haaland next summer could be on the cards.
