Real Madrid leading the race to land Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail), Spanish giants Real Madrid are leading the race to land Manchester United star Paul Pogba for free next summer.
The French international is currently in the final year of his deal at Old Trafford. He has not shown any inclination of penning an extension and his future remains unresolved.
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola has already suggested that the player will leave Old Trafford. United’s record signing, losing the World Cup winner for free in 2022 is not something that will appeal to the Red Devils faithful.
The 28-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2016 but has largely been inconsistent. He picked up his game since the turn of the year and has been one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s best players.
Pogba started off the season with a bang, making four assists in our first game against Leeds United at Old Trafford. It was a timely reminder of just what he is capable of when at his best.
The Frenchman will not be short of options should he seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. Apart from Real Madrid, both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on his situation.
According to ESPN’s Julien Laurens (h/t Daily Mail), United, for their part, would rather cash in on the player next January rather than lose him on a free in the summer.
Real Madrid, for their part, is also interested in PSG ace Kylian Mbappe. The wonderkid is also out of contract next summer. It could be a summer of infamy if Los Blancos land both French superstars for free in the same summer.

Losing Pogba would leave a hole in our midfield that will not be easy to fill. United should do all they can to keep hold of the player. Ar the very least, he should not be allowed to run down his contract and walk away for nothing.
