Boost for Manchester United as Juventus drop out of Erling Haaland race
According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), Juventus have dropped out of the race to sign Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland. The young striker is heavily linked to a move away from Borussia Dortmund with Manchester United being one of the interested parties.
Juventus, too, have been mentioned as suitors for Haaland. And the Italian club revealed that they had the opportunity to sign him back in 2017 but couldn’t secure the deal for the former Molde player. They were keen on making the move but Erling was waiting for a better opportunity at another club.
Speaking about the miss in 2017 and their chances of signing Haaland now, Juve’s sporting coordinator Federico Cherubini said:
“Haaland is a regret for Juventus. We wanted him years ago but he wasn’t attracted by potential loan. Buy Haaland now? We’re going to look for players like Erling before maturing – even if I wouldn’t want to preclude anything.”
Haaland is hot property in Europe right now. The former RB Salzburg man has a £68million release in his current contract which will get activated next year. Manchester City, Paris Saint-German, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are some of the clubs that have been heavily linked with the player.
Juventus have thrown in the towel which is good news for Manchester United as it furthers their chance of landing the youngster.
The youngster chose to make the move to Dortmund in January last year despite offers from other top European clubs. It feels like the move has worked wonders for the young striker. The Norwegian has scored 63 goals in 64 games in all competition for the German club.

Haaland’s former teammate Jadon Sancho is already at Old Trafford with a £72.9million move which was a major talking point of the transfer window. The Red Devils had a pretty productive transfer window by bringing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Sancho to Old Trafford.
Whether Haaland joins them in the future remains to be seen.
