Donny van de Beek unhappy with Manchester United signing Cristiano Ronaldo
According to The Star, Donny van de Beek is unhappy with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, as his agent feels that this will pull him further down the pecking order at Manchester United.
Donny van de Beek made the move from Ajax to Old Trafford in a £35million deal. The midfielder played a pivotal role in Ajax’s campaign in the 2018/19 season when the dutch side went all the way up to the Champions League semi-final.
The Red Devils fans were understandably excited by his move to Manchester United but the midfielder has managed only 4 starts in 32 appearances for United in all competitions. The former Ajax player has found it difficult to nail down a regular position in the first team and is struggling for regular game time. The Dutch international is also yet to start a game this season.
Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers said:
“We said that he is not a Carabao Cup player or an FA Cup player or will play in only European games. He went to England to play in the Premier League. Donny worked extremely hard during the summer and took only seven days holiday and he is totally ready to play.”
Donny could have joined Everton this season but Ole Gunnar Solksjaer blocked the move and assured him that he was pivotal to their long-term plans. Van de Beek’s agent has been pretty vocal about his unhappiness due to limited game time for his player.
His agent is actively looking for other clubs that might be interested. He also added that Ronaldo’s move spells bad news for the Dutchman as it could impact his gametime:
“Cristiano’s arrival was bad news for us. Paul Pogba plays on the left, with Cristiano’s arrival, it means another extra player in midfield”

The 24-year-old midfielder has admitted that he would like to play in a deeper midfield position, even though he rose to fame as a versatile and creative attacking midfielder. He also insisted that when the time comes, he would play any role that is deemed fit by the manager. Nonetheless, Donny van de Beek is yet to feature this season in the Premier League and has been an unused sub in their first 3 games.
