Gareth Bale backs Cristiano Ronaldo to continue his mean streak at Manchester United
According to the Mirror, Gareth Bale has backed Manchester United returnee Cristiano Ronaldo to continue his mean streak at Old Trafford.
The 36-year-old made a surprise return to the Theatre of Dreams earlier this summer to cap off a wonderful transfer window for the Red Devils. Alongside Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, the veteran adds some much-needed quality and strength in depth.
Despite his age, Ronaldo continues to impress as one of the best players in the world and remains hungry for success. His return will add the much-needed winning mentality that the United squad has fallen short of in key moments.
Bale who shared the Real Madrid locker room with Ronaldo is excited to see his former teammate return to the Premier League. He is certain that Ronaldo will continue where he left off at United.
“I’m excited to see it like everyone else. I’m sure he will do well.”
A goalscoring machine, Ronaldo won the Golden Boot in Serie A last season, setting another milestone in his illustrious career. He has a few years left in him and Bale believes he will put it to good use.
“His goal-scoring ability is matched by no one else so I’m sure he is going to come in, do well and score a lot of goals.”
Ronaldo scored 84 goals and made 34 assists in just 196 Premier League games during his first spell at Old Trafford. During that time, he also led the side to numerous Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy. More of the same would be welcome in his second coming.
The focus now shifts to our clash at the weekend against Newcastle United. Whether the 36-year-old will make his second debut for the club against the Magpies remains to be seen.

Bale too returned to the Premier League last summer with Tottenham Hotspur. The much-hyped loan move looked good on paper but fell well short of meeting expectations. He has since returned to Real Madrid.
While the Welshman has lost that extra yard, Ronaldo remains at the top of his game. He has every chance of succeeding where his former Real Madrid teammate failed.
