Manchester United ready to fight in three-way battle for Youri Tielemans

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel (h/t Leicestershire Live), Manchester United could be in a three-way battle to sign Youri Tielemans next summer.

Tielemans, who joined the Foxes in the summer of 2019, has settled in well at the King Power Stadium. The 24-year-old has been instrumental for the club in the last two years as he has helped them to a 5th place finish in the League table in both seasons.

Last year alone, Tielemans featured 51 times under Brendan Rodgers and scored 9 goals, and provided 6 assists in the process. The Belgian also went on to score the winner in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently talked about the interest of several clubs in the midfielder this summer on his YouTube channel (h/t Leicestershire Live), saying:

“Behind the scenes, many clubs wanted to sign Youri Tielemans this summer. I think this summer was really complicated for him to move because, after the Euros, his price was around £60m to £65m”.

Romano, however, also explained that Manchester United are also interested in signing the player next summer.

“I am told that he is on many top clubs’ list. Real Madrid have his name in mind for the future, Barcelona the same. In England many clubs are interested. Manchester United have to decide on Paul Pogba, but Tielemans is one to watch for the future for Manchester United”.

Pogba, who is in the final year of his contract, has refused a contract extension at the club previously and could leave the Manchester-based club on a free transfer next summer. Thus, the Belgian would be a brilliant option if the Frenchman does decide to leave.

However, given that Real Madrid & Barcelona are also keeping an eye on the player, it remains to be seen whether United can lure the 24-year-old to Old Trafford next summer.
