Manchester United star Jadon Sancho picks up injury on international duty

Manchester United suffer blow as Jadon Sancho suffers injury during international duty

According to a tweet put out by journalist Simon Peach (h/t Caught Offside), Gareth Southgate confirmed that Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho has suffered an injury during training with the England National team.

The 21-year-old, who made a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United earlier this summer, was called up for international duty with the Three Lions for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

England are set to face Hungary, Andorra, and Poland this month in the space of eight days.

However, England manager Southgate has confirmed today that Sancho has suffered an injury in training and described it as a ‘small knock’, according to journalist Simon Peach (h/t Caught Offside).

But, there is no update as to the complete extent of the injury and when the player will return. Southgate did, however, inform that he would be facing a late fitness test before the game against Hungary.

Regardless, this would be a blow for United, who would have been hoping to have all their players completely fit post the international break. Sancho has, so far, featured in all three Premier League games for the Old Trafford outfit this season while he also got to make his first start for the club on Sunday against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although the 21-year-old did not perform all that well, he did get considerable minutes under his belt. The Red Devils are facing a hectic schedule post the international break as they are lined up to play nearly seven games in the space of 22 days, including two crucial Champions League clashes against Young Boys & Villarreal.

Thus, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be hoping that his star man can recover quickly and in time to face Newcastle United on the 11th of August.
