Borussia Dortmund manager says Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho is in a situation similar to that of a player with an ACL injury.

Manchester United loanee, Jadon Sancho has been unable to have the impact he would’ve wished for upon his return to Borussia Dortmund. In 9 appearances across all competitions, the 23-year-old has recorded one goal and two assists.

The Red Devil got his first goal this week thanks to an incredible solo run he made against Werder Bremen. The quality of his goal reminded people of Sancho’s former self and was celebrated by the fans.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Walter Kehl also spoke on his performance and said that he is dealing with a situation similar to someone with an ACL injury. Let’s have a look at what else he had to say. (h/t Goal.com)

Jadon Sancho is clearly more comfortable playing in Germany.

“You should not forget that he didn’t play for a long time. It’s like when a player has a cruciate ligament injury and is out for a long time. We need him and we will again on Wednesday and for the coming weeks.”

Kehl assured the people that Sancho is an important part of their plans this season. The Dortmund chief also believes that his first goal will help him perform even better. His drop in form is understandable considering the 23-year-old was away from the game for over four months when Erik ten Hag sidelined him.

Playing top-flight football after such a long time away from the game will take a toll on anyone’s body. However, Sancho is slowly playing his way back into form. If he keeps it up we might even see him back at Old Trafford.

But that is a discussion for the end of the summer. Moreover, his return might also depend on whether Erik ten Hag is still around or not.
