Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund provide update on their Erling Haaland stance amid Manchester United interest
Speaking to German publication Kicker (h/t Manchester Evening News), Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, has provided an update regarding Manchester United transfer target, Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian hitman is on the radar of several top clubs. Apart from Man United, city rivals Manchester City and Ligue 1 giants, PSG, have all expressed an interest in signing him.
He was highly impressive for RB Salzburg in Austria before translating that form in the Bundesliga with the Black and Yellow. Haaland has started this season in style with 6 goals in 5 outings.
But Zorc has acted fast to stop the rumours in their tracks. He mentions that Dortmund’s stance regarding their star striker hasn’t changed as of now.
What next for Haaland?
“We are a football club, not a bank! Our position is very clear and did not change. I assume that we will now be confronted with wild rumours for another two days. Our position is clear, I don’t need to play the parrot all the time.”
Haaland’s contract with the German side lasts until the summer of 2024. That is a long time for things to change, and Marca (h/t Daily Mail) has stated earlier this month that Haaland has a £64million release clause that can activate as early as January 2022.
United have signed Cristiano Ronaldo this summer in a blockbuster deal. The Portuguese superstar can carry the attacking mantle for a couple of years, but the Red Devils would need to think long-term when it comes to signing a striker.

Haaland, in that regard, would be a massive signing. The 21-year-old is almost unstoppable in Bundesliga right now and could be a handful for Premier League teams if ever makes that switch.
