Fans react as Manchester United learn their fate in the Group stage of the UEFA Champions League
As reported on the UEFA website, Manchester United have been drawn against Atalanta, Villarreal, and BSC Young Boys in this year’s UEFA Champions League group stage.
The Red Devils, who finished 2nd in the Premier League table last year were a part of the Pot 2 of the seeding process. They have formed a part of Group F, which will contain Spanish outfit Villarreal, Italian side Atalanta, and Swiss club BSC Young Boys.
The Old Trafford outfit will not have happy memories of facing Villarreal because the last time they faced the Spanish side, they lost the UEFA Europa League final on penalties. However, they would now be looking to avenge their heartbreak as they will face them twice in the group stage.
Moving on, Atalanta are also drawn alongside the Red Devils, somebody they will be wary of. The Italian club were incredible in Serie A last year as they finished third, only a point off second-place AC Milan.
Moreover, the Serie A side also managed to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the group stage last year, showing that they do not back off against some of the bigger European teams.
Lastly, United would be facing Swiss Super League champions BSC Young Boys. As compared to other teams in the group, the Red Devils would be a little more comfortable playing them, however, the champions of any country will pose a hard challenge.
However, United have had a good transfer window and they have recruited well. Although they are amongst some tough teams, the expectation from the fans would be to top the group as they look to win their 4th ever Champions League trophy.
Let us take a look at how some of the Manchester United fans reacted to the club’s UEFA Champions League Group stage draw.
