Jadon Sancho could start for Manchester United in season opener against Leeds United
According to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), Jadon Sancho is tipped to start for Manchester United against Leeds United this weekend despite joining pre-season training earlier this week.
The English international joined Manchester United in a £73million move from Borussia Dortmund this summer after the Red Devils failed to sign the player last year. However, after signing his five-year contract, Sancho left for holiday to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Thus, the 20-year-old missed all four of United’s pre-season games this season, including their pre-season training camp in Scotland last week. However, Sancho was set to come back to first-team training at Carrington earlier this week, and the player did arrive as scheduled.
Sancho is already raring to go with the player understood to be physically and mentally prepared for the challenge of facing Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United this weekend. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on the other hand, would be more than happy to play the 21-year-old from the start rather than bringing him off the bench.
Manchester United fans would be excited at the prospect of watching Sancho start the game, especially after his impressive numbers with Borussia Dortmund last season. The 21-year-old scored 16 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions, and if he can replicate these numbers at Old Trafford, the fans would certainly be jubilant.
With Marcus Rashford out with a shoulder injury, Solskjaer could be set to start the game with Sancho and Mason Greenwood on either wing with Bruno Fernandes playing behind central striker Anthony Martial.
