PSG are set to end their interest in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

According to Le Parisien (h/t Manchester Evening News), Paris Saint Germain are set to pull out of the race to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The French giants have been interested in signing the player all summer, but it is highly unlikely that the Frenchman will move to Paris and will in all likelihood remain at United beyond the ongoing transfer window, according to Le Parisien (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Moreover, United also refused to negotiate with PSG while the French giants, on the other hand, did not make an effort to convince the Red Devils to sell the player, even though both PSG and Pogba were keen on a move. Additionally, the Parisians have now shifted their attention to signing Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, which could all but end their pursuit of Pogba this summer.

However, while the French international could stay at the club this season, he could still leave on a free transfer next summer. Pogba is in the final year of his contract and has refused a contract extension at the club.

The player’s future at Old Trafford has been surrounded with uncertainty ever since his agent, Mino Raiola, said explicitly that Pogba was unhappy at United and that his time was over at the club this year – earmarking the player to leave this summer.

Besides all of this, Pogba has returned to first-team training ahead of the new season while he also featured in the club’s 4-0 victory in the pre-season friendly against Everton last Saturday.

Thus, while the Frenchman could still leave next summer, Ole Gunnar Solskajer will be hoping to use the player as much as possible this season as United look to compete for the biggest titles again.
