Transfer News: Manchester United star Paul Pogba offered to arch-rivals Liverpool
In a sensational piece of transfer news, Liverpool have been bizarrely offered the chance to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba this summer.
According to Le10Sport (h/t Express), the French international has no intention of penning a new deal and is actively seeking a move away from Old Trafford this summer. As things stand, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are the favourites to land the player.
To add fuel to what is already a developing situation, Mino Raiola has now offered Jurgen Klopp the opportunity to land his client. The 28-year-old’s name has been mentioned at Anfield and Raiola has revealed to them that a deal could be made possible if they are keen.
The Merseysiders are in the market for a midfielder following Georginio Wijnaldum’s exit this summer. While the likes of Saul Niguez and Youri Tielemans have been mooted, Pogba being linked with a switch to Anfield is something new.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that the club is currently in talks with Pogba regarding a possible extension. He refused to divulge any more details and there has been little to suggest so far that he is keen to stay put. A world-class player on his day, the Red Devils could find it difficult to replace him if it comes to that.
While losing Pogba could be something we have to come to terms with, Liverpool signing him could lead to complete anarchy. The prospect of a manager such as Jurgen Klopp working his magic on Pogba is every United fan’s worst nightmare. It would also be a sense of cruel irony if he so happened to lead the Reds to a record-equalling 20th league title.
Both clubs are not the best of friends and Liverpool’s re-emergence as a top side has rekindled the rivalry. It would not be amiss to suggest that Untied fans would rather lose the player on a free than sell him to our biggest rivals.

United have been busy in the summer window and have already signed Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho. Pogba’s international teammate, Raphael Varane is also on his way to Old Trafford. Having Pogba commit to a new deal would be the cherry on what has been some good business. As of now, that is easier said than done.
