Fans react as Manchester United duo Eric Bailly and Amad Diallo qualify for Olympics quarter-final
Manchester United duo Eric Bailly and Amad Diallo have made it through to the quarter-finals of the Olympics with Ivory Coast. A draw against Germany was enough to hand them the second spot in Group D with Brazil topping the group.
Ivory Coast are done with their group stage games, winning the first one against Saudi Arabia and drawing the next against Brazil. They faced Germany in the last game of Group D. A draw would have been enough for them to progress to the next round.
They got the same, courtesy of an own goal from Benjamin Henrichs while Eduard Lowen scored for Germany. Ivory Coast held on to the draw to claim the point they needed, eliminating Germany in the process.
Eric Bailly started as expected, while Amad came on later in the game. Ivory Coast will now face Spain in the quarter-finals. Nonetheless, United fans were relatively happy with their duo’s performance as they edge closer to a medal in the prestigious tournament.
