Rennes president warns Manchester United about Eduardo Camavinga fee
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have been warned that Eduardo Camavinga won’t come cheap. Rennes president Nicolas Holveck has spoken about the situation regarding the teenage prodigy, insisting that all options regarding his future are open.
Signing his first professional contract in 2018, Camavinga became the youngest player ever to do so with Rennes. He made his debut for the first team in April 2019 against Angers and scored his first goal for the club against Lyon in December 2019. So far, Camavinga has made 82 appearances for Rennes, scoring twice and assisting five in the process (h/t Transfermarkt).
A natural central midfielder, the 18-year-old can also be used deeper in a defensive role. He also made his bow for France last year but was unlucky to miss out on a spot for the Euros. The problem for Rennes is that his contract ends in a year and they either have to sell him now or lose him for free in 2022.
Camavinga was originally expected to cost around £30m. However, United have been sent a word of warning by Rennes president Nicolas Holvek.
“Discussions are still ongoing, everything is open, either for a departure during this transfer window – if an offer satisfies everyone – or to extend [his contract]. He won’t leave for cheap, we’ve had a lot of discussions but nothing is complete one way or another.”

Given United’s apparent need for a defensive midfielder, they can afford to spend some extra dough on Camavinga. After all, he is just 18 and would be an option for the long term. Given the squad United have at their disposal, Camavinga can be a decent fit with his youthful energy.
