Transfer News: Manchester United keeping tabs on Joelson Fernandes
According to transfer news from Sport Witness, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Joelson Fernandes. Despite a hefty €60m release clause in his contract, United are adamant about the Sporting CP starlet. United are closely following his development alongside City, Arsenal, Juventus and Barcelona.
Joelson Fernandes moved to Portugal at a young age and joined Sporting Lisbon’s youth ranks back in 2012. The 18-year-old left-winger was promoted to train with the first-team squad following the pandemic. He made 4 senior appearances for the Portuguese heavyweights towards the back end of the 2019-20 campaign.
However, the 18-year-old did not feature even once for the senior side over the last season as manager Ruben Amorim left him out. He could get chances this season though, as he participates in the club’s pre-season. That has reduced his chances of asking for an exit from Sporting.
Joelson Fernandes has a rather sizable €60m release clause slapped to his name. However, that has not seemed to fluster United one bit as they keep an eye on the player and his growth. United are not the only side after him as Arsenal, Man City, Juventus and Barcelona have also expressed interest.

The Portuguese starlet is perhaps being viewed as one for the future. United have a plethora of wingers at their disposal and it’s unlikely Joelson Fernandes would come in as a starter. For now, United are just monitoring his progress and waiting to see how this turns out.
