Revealed: Wolves failed with loan bid for Manchester United star Dean Henderson
According to The Athletic (subscription required), Wolves failed with a loan bid for Manchester United star Dean Henderson earlier in the transfer window. However, any such approach was rejected with swiftness from United’s end.
Manchester United have a goalkeeper problem on their hands. After signing Tom Heaton and extending the contract of Lee Grant, United have four men between the sticks now. That is perhaps not the headache Solskjaer would have wanted.
Over the last season, United saw a change of guard in goal. During the time when the long-serving David De Gea was out on paternity leave, Dean Henderson was handed a chance to stake his claim for the No.1 position. Some encouraging showings meant that he was the first choice for the rest of the season.
It would seem his good form did not go unnoticed. Wolves made a loan offer for Henderson earlier in the transfer window. United were quick to dismiss any such offers for the highly-rated keeper. Wolves also saw their goalkeepers being shuffled, as Jose Sa arrived from Olympiacos after Rui Patricio left for Roma.
