Manchester United fans react as Dean Henderson withdraws from the England squad
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has withdrawn from the England squad at the European Championship.
The 24-year-old’s departure has been forced upon him thanks to a hip injury. The United ace was not on the bench for England’s 1-0 win over Croatia in the Group D opener but that was initially said to be as a precaution.
The player was forced to train alone on Monday thanks to his injury. It decided that his involvement would be limited and that the best course of action is to return to United for assessment and rehabilitation.
Given that Jordan Pickford is England’s starting goalkeeper, Henderson is better off using the time to recover and recuperate for next season. Sheffield United star Aaron Ramsdale will now take Henderson’s place in the Three Lions squad.
It is not proving to be a good Euros for United’s English contingent. Mason Greenwood who was included in the extended 33-man preliminary squad was forced to withdraw thanks to underlying issues. Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, went into the tournament struggling with various niggles and is aware that surgery is imminent. Harry Maguire continues to recover from his injury while Luke Shaw is also nursing a wrist injury.
We now take a look at how United fans reacted to Henderson’s withdrawl below.

Shaw, Maguire and Rashford would do the same in a perfect world. All have injury problems that could do with rest.
