“We will be back” – Man United star sends a defiant message after Europa League loss

Manchester United star Scott McTominay remains defiant despite Europa League setback

Scottish international Scott McTominay was amongst the best players on the field for Manchester United against Villarreal yesterday night.

The midfielder put in a performance filled with heart and fight in what was ultimately a losing effort. He has now taken to Instagram to send a message to the Red Devils fanbase.

Despite the setback, McTominay is staying optimistic and has vowed to make amends in the future.

“We will be back.”

United have endured an excellent season where they have outdone themselves in the league. While our run in Europe could have been better, we can blame nobody but ourselves for the fiasco.

A major reason could be attributed to the fatigue the players were under after the long and harrowing season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not help matters when he failed to handle the matchday squad better on the night.

The Norwegian made his first change in the 98th minute and appeared content planning ahead for the penalty shootout. Whether a more proactive approach could have helped is debatable.

McTominay was among our best players in Gdansk

Both McTominay and Fred have been the club’s preferred choices as the double pivot this season. While the former got the nod in Gdansk, the latter was replaced by French midfielder Paul Pogba.

Having come up through the club’s academy, McTominay is aware of what is expected of him as a Red Devil. Having come up short this time, we hope he will be motivated to seek more glory in the upcoming seasons.

United have shown a good glimpse of their potential this season. While it so far remains unfulfilled, there is no reason why we cannot achieve much in the seasons to come.

McTominay is right in asserting that United will challenge and have more opportunities to rectify yesterday’s heartbreak. Hopefully, lessons have been learnt.
