According to transfer news from MEN, Bruno Fernandes has been talking to Nuno Mendes amid links to Manchester United. The pair were named in Portugal’s 26-man squad for the Euros and Fernandes face-timed Mendes to congratulate his junior.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut for Lisbon last season and has since emerged as a key player for the Portuguese giants. He played a key role in their Primeira League win this season, their first league title in 19 years.
A full international for Portugal, Mendes has made gigantic strides this season to come into contention for the summer’s European Championship. His hard work and talent paid off as he was named in the initial 26-man squad along with our Fernandes.
With both the Portuguese players sharing roots at Sporting CP, Fernandes decided to congratulate Mendes on his selection to the squad. Fernandes shared an image on social media that showed the pair on facetime.

Nonetheless, it’s hard to see United going after Mendes in the summer. He is expected to cost around £60m and United already have Shaw and Telles to compete for the position. Granted, Mendes is a talented youngster but it’s honestly hard to justify this deal.
