Manchester United to hold talks for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez
According to Leah Smith of Stretty News (h/t The Express), Manchester United is scheduled to hold talks with Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez.
The Spanish international has been a critical player for Los Blancos in recent years. He finally looks set to end his affiliation with the club this summer.
A three-time Champions League winner, he was a part of the Los Blancos side that has dominated the competition in the recent past. He might go on to add a fourth title before he potentially leaves in the summer.
United’s move comes after the player held talks with Premier League rivals Arsenal. The Gunners are also set for a rebuild and appear to have made the first move to land the 29-year-old.
Luke Shaw developed into an excellent player following the signing of Alex Telles. The Red Devils are keen to light a similar fire under Aaron Wan-Bissaka and are keen to bring in a backup right-back this summer.
Primarily a winger, Zinedine Zidane has largely used the player as a wing-back this season. He has thrived in the role and has established himself in Dani Carvajal’s absence.
With Hector Bellerin likely to leave the Emirates, Arsenal have much reason to make a serious move for Vazquez. With his contract winding down, the prospect of landing the player on a free transfer this summer is unavoidable.
Zidane is keen for the player to stay put. However, time is running out for Real Madrid to secure his future, paving the way for United to make their move.

The prospect of signing a player of Vazquez’s experience for free is not something that United should discount. The player is seeking a payday worthy of his profile and there is no reason why we cannot provide him with that.
