Paul Pogba insists he is happy at Manchester United

According to Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Paul Pogba has revealed that he is happy at Manchester United.

This contradicts the statements made by the player’s agent Mino Raiola last December. The superagent had claimed that his client was unhappy at the Theatre of Dreams and would seek a move away.

The comments drew widespread criticism given their timing. Raiola’s statements came on the eve of our do-or-die Champions League tie against RB Leipzig on matchday six.

Ironically, Pogba has thrived since and has been amongst our best players. He played a key role in our rise to the Premier League summit and was sorely missed when out injured in February and March.

We have now heard from the horse’s mouth that he is indeed glad to be at United. It should come as scant consolation given his contract situation.

“I’m happy! Of course I’m happy.”

The Frenchman went on to add that he is keen to play wherever the team needs him to and is committed to the collective cause. Manchester United are favourites to win the Europa League and can still mathematically overtake City to the Premier League trophy

“If the manager tells me to play deeper, I’ll play deeper and give my best to help the team as much as I can.”

Pogba’s positive form since the new year could be considered a double-edged sword. Not only has he reminded Untied what he is capable of but has also put on an excellent audition for prospective clients.

Leading United to a trophy will only see his stature improve. Whether doing so would convince him to stay put remains to be seen.

While Pogba’s comments will cheer up some, it will matter for little unless his contract situation is resolved. After all, actions speak louder than words.
